Small businesses are powerful drivers of economic growth, job creation, and community development.
That’s why Entrepreneur Works is proud to serve as Delaware County’s Business Assistance Service Center (BASC), helping entrepreneurs connect with the resources, technical assistance, and support they need to start, grow, and sustain successful businesses.
Recently, we welcomed community leaders, elected officials, financial partners, and small business advocates to our Chester office to celebrate the launch of the Business Assistance Service Center and the expanded opportunities it brings to entrepreneurs throughout Delaware County.
The Business Assistance Service Center is part of Governor Josh Shapiro’s statewide initiative to support historically disadvantaged businesses across Pennsylvania. Through strategically located centers throughout the Commonwealth, entrepreneurs can access business guidance, referrals, training, and connections to funding opportunities that help remove barriers to growth and strengthen local economies.
As Delaware County’s BASC partner, Entrepreneur Works is honored to serve as a trusted resource for local business owners seeking support at every stage of their entrepreneurial journey.
The event brought together organizations and leaders who share a common belief: when entrepreneurs succeed, communities thrive.
We were pleased to welcome representatives from Citizens Bank, including Bridget Murray, whose attendance reflected Citizens Bank’s continued commitment to entrepreneurship, economic opportunity, and community development throughout our region. As a valued partner of Entrepreneur Works, Citizens Bank continues to invest in initiatives that help small business owners access the tools and resources they need to grow.

The program featured remarks from several leaders committed to strengthening Pennsylvania’s small business ecosystem.
Jim Burnett, Founder and CEO of VestedIn, spoke about the importance of ensuring entrepreneurs have access to trusted advisors, technical assistance, and financial resources that support long-term business sustainability.
Representing the Pennsylvania CDFI Network, Varsovia Fernandez highlighted the critical role Community Development Financial Institutions play in expanding access to responsible capital and business support services across the Commonwealth. Her remarks reinforced the importance of collaboration in creating pathways to opportunity for entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneur Works Executive Vice President Antoinette Truehart spoke about our organization’s longstanding commitment to Delaware County and the relationships that have allowed us to serve entrepreneurs throughout the region. Through years of community engagement and outreach, Antoinette has helped connect business owners to the resources, education, and support needed to move their businesses forward.
We were also honored to welcome Mayor Stefan Roots of Chester, who reflected on his longstanding relationship with Entrepreneur Works and our organization’s decades-long commitment to supporting entrepreneurs throughout Delaware County. His remarks underscored the importance of sustained investment, trusted partnerships, and accessible resources in building stronger communities.

Throughout the event, one message remained clear: meaningful economic development does not happen in isolation.
It happens when financial institutions, nonprofit organizations, government leaders, economic development partners, and community advocates work together to create opportunities for entrepreneurs.
That spirit of collaboration is at the heart of the Business Assistance Service Center initiative.
For more than 30 years, Entrepreneur Works has helped entrepreneurs throughout the Greater Philadelphia region access capital, coaching, education, and technical assistance. Through BASC, we are excited to deepen that impact in Delaware County and ensure even more business owners have access to the support they need to succeed.
